Breaking through the One-Page Resume Myth

One of the common myths that we break through in Congratulations... You're Hired is that a generic one page resume works best. This is NOT true.

There are many ways to develop a strong resume. I typically recommend that a one-page resume format is only used...
  • If you are a High School Student and do not have enough job experience
  • If a college or employer has specifically asked for a one-page resume
  • If you are going to a job fair where recruiters have recommended the format
It is very difficult to make your resume stand out when it is only one page. A select few of the tips that I put in my book is to get the attention, and persuade an employer to grant you an interview, then mirror the job posting, include key words to stand out from the rest.

Follow our blog to stay updated on the latest about our books coming out on August 21, and to get some helpful tips from an HR Director, the person who is hiring!

Advice from the person who is hiring- the HR Director

In our book Congratulations... You Aced the Interview, we break through all the myths that you typically hear when you go for a job interview.

One of the myths we explore in the book is that only what you do during the interview counts.

That is so wrong! EVERYTHING counts during an interview! Here are a few helpful hints.
  • Make sure you learn enough about the company. ALWAYS do your research!
  • Leave early to make sure you arrive on time for the interview.
  • Always make sure your cell phone is OFF!
  • Even after, it is always appropriate to write a thank you letter.
  • Be courteous to everyone you meet, you never know who is standing next to you- it could be your future boss!
Our books are now available for pre-order at Barnes & Noble. They will be in the stores August 21.
The E-Books will be available sooner than the hard copies of the book. We will announce when they are available for the E-Readers. Stay connected with us to get more helpful hints on how to ace the interview!
